On 15 October 2026 in Hamburg, the ida app won the Health-i Award from Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) and Handelsblatt, taking first place. ida helps patients with metastatic breast cancer track their symptoms regularly and alerts the care team when their condition gets significantly worse. We built the app as development partner together with the ida team, and we are thrilled for them.
The Health-i Award 2026
The Health-i Award is a joint initiative of Handelsblatt and Techniker Krankenkasse. For more than ten years, it has recognised start-ups, companies and projects that improve healthcare. At the final in Hamburg, ten finalists presented their solutions. The jury chose three winners, and first place went to ida GmbH.

What the ida app does
Patients with metastatic breast cancer enter their symptoms in ida every week. An algorithm analyses the data and detects significant deterioration. The treating medical staff are then notified right away and can respond without waiting for the next appointment.
In Germany, around 21,000 women are diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer each year, and about 68,000 live with the disease. ida aims to reduce the symptom burden, help avoid additional doctor visits and hospital stays, and make care more focused on patients.
Our role as development partner
ida is a project from the Breast Center at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, led by Prof. Dr. med. Maria Margarete Karsten and Dr. med. Therese Pross. We have been part of the ida team since 2025. The ida team contributes the medical expertise, from breast cancer treatment and study design to quality management. We take care of product and software development:
- Application architecture
- Development of the mobile app and the web application
- DevOps and operations
- Technical consulting throughout the project
„With the ida application in particular, absolute reliability is crucial. In dynabase we have an IT partner that understands the requirements of medical software, implements them quickly, securely and as equals, and supports us throughout the entire process.“
Prof. Dr. med. Maria Margarete Karsten, Senior Consultant at the Breast Center of Charité
What makes healthcare software different
Health data is among the most sensitive data there is. With ida, the security requirements for handling patient data and the regulatory requirements were therefore one of the biggest technical challenges. On top of that, an alert system has to work reliably, because the care team depends on it.
How we plan security into projects from the start is described in our article Security by Design. You can find more about the project itself in our ida case study.
