Experience works of art interactively - a multimedia information chat about MET exhibits

Basic idea
Through our self-initiated research project: the new intelligent chat of the dynabase, in-depth information about all exhibits of the MET becomes easily accessible and age-appropriate for all art-interested visitors of the MET. From the very young to the very old.
THE WHOLE STORY
The motivation behind this project was to make the wealth of information from the literature that is available for each exhibit in the METS easily accessible to every visitor to the METS. Through the app, it should be possible to interact with this literature and thus bring each work of art to life.
The data for this project was taken from freely available information.
CHALLENGES
The project had two main challenges.
One was the lack of detailed information about the layout and exhibition design of the museum, which raised the question of how to identify the artworks in the app.
Another challenge was the available database, which was partly unstructured and in proprietary formats. But our in-house data experts tackled this problem and were able to restructure the data.
RESULT
Users have the option of specifying their role. The application then responds based on the selection.
In addition, the answer to the request can also be given in voice form by an AI-generated voice.

RESUME
The end result was a functional app that can offer real added value to the museum visit. The interactive app addresses the various interest groups of the MET and has the potential to inspire a child as well as the art expert and to impart new knowledge. The project gave us a lot of pleasure and strengthened our general knowledge of art immensely.
